The secret diary of a single parent bloke
The children are back at school, and I’m settling in back at work. After the Christmas fun, the drag of day-to-day single parent life is well underway.
Most of the Christmas holiday has been spent at my Dad’s house near the coast. Far too much to eat and drink, bracing walks on wind-swept beaches and being waited on hand-and-foot. Actually, I struggle to be waited on- I guess that I’m used to being the one running around and doing stuff.
Naturally, the only problem was Katrina. I’m annoyed that, even though she hasn’t seen the kids for 2 weeks, she only phoned them on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. And then I was annoyed that she’d interrupted my family. But thinking about it logically, perhaps the problem is actually me. I can’t be annoyed when she phones and when she doesn’t.
Regardless, the break has done me good, and I feel ready to grab the year and make it a good one. I’ve never believed in New Year’s Resolutions, but I’m determined to do the following things:
Even crashing into a sheep on my first journey home from work this year won’t put me off. Here’s to an excellent, life changing, 2007!
