The secret diary of a single parent bloke
I’ve taken Natalia and Jack to my Dad’s house for Christmas. It’s the first Christmas that we’ve spent without Katrina and, to be honest, she wasn’t missed. New Year’s Eve is a funny time, full of reflection of the year gone by, uncertainty, optimism and trepidation about the year to come.
And it’s been an interesting year, to say the least! I’ve been through the end of my marriage, become a single parent, a fraud victim, a better parent, found love, and lost love. It sounds odd to say that I’ve had a good year, but that’s the way it feels- through it all I’ve accomplished so much and improved not only my life, but Natalia and Jack’s too.
I’m feeling optimistic about 2006. I’ll be able to change the after-school childcare arrangement, feel “on top” of all of the problems, and everything seems to be running smoothly, which will help improve things for us all. I’ve saved some money, and hope to take Natalia and Jack on holiday somewhere nice.
Happy new year.
