The secret diary of a single parent bloke
The arrangements for getting Natalia and Jack to and from school have been erratic, but I’m hopeful that from September things will improve slightly.
At the moment, I’m dropping Natalia off at her friend’s house in the morning, then driving over to Kat’s parent’s house to drop off Jack, then off to work. Kat’s parent’s take Jack to school (he’s only there half a day at the moment), and pick up both children at 3pm. On certain nights I collect them from Kat’s parent’s at 6pm but on other nights Kat brings them home (unless she can think of an excuse not to, which she often does).
From September, when Jack’s at school “full time”, I’ve arranged for a childminder to take them both to school for me. Kat’s agreed to pay for half of the childminder’s fees, but I’ll believe that when I see it. Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait another year before they can go to the after-school club, as Jack’s still too young for that. That means another year at their awful grandparent’s house!
Weekend arrangements have settled down too. Kat’s having the children from Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon every other weekend, and Saturday during the day on the remaining ones. She is having trouble understanding that she can’t just pick and choose, at a moment’s notice, when she wants to see the kids. She’s actually said that it’s up to her when she sees the kids, and she’ll not be dictated to by me! It’s causing even more friction between us.
