Letters from lenders

Whilst clearing out yet more rubbish (the wheelie bin’s never been so full), I discovered more letters hidden in odd places. These were from loan companies, and fortunately they’d had the good sense to decline Katrina for a loan. Thank god for that.

A letter from another lender was delivered today, declining her for a new loan. It’s two and a half months since she moved out, so this must be a new loan application that she’s made!

I’m worried that other loans might be taken out in my name at other locations (the credit card was in my name, but at her parent’s address), so I’ve done a credit check on myself, and everything’s fine- for now.

I’m also worried that it will affect me getting a mortgage- the current mortgage is in joint names, but in order to buy her out of the house, I’m going to have to re-finance. It’s very unfair, she’s never paid anything towards the mortgage, and only a token amount towards the other bills (and frequently emptied the joint account), but unfortunately I don’t have any practical choice. At least it’s only a relatively small amount I need to find!

Sadly – it is ridiculously easy for people you know to commit fraud – apparently it is the most common kind. Bastards, the lot of them! x
